Summary
Sherlock recovers, slowly. Jamie sits with him every day and painstakingly reconstructs him, better this time. Both of them have learned from their mistakes and she makes sure the lessons stick. She – very briefly – considers keeping him dependent, but drugs are easy to come by and he is so much more useful when he is sharp.
She smiles and shivers, excited, when she thinks about the future.

Summary
Jamie Moriarty has solved this little puzzle: in the case of Sherlock and Joan one plus one is a great deal more than two. They are exponential.
The obvious conclusion is to separate them, and it doesn’t take her long to work out how to do it.

Summary
The letters continue despite Joan's lack of response. Chatty gossip about prison, polite inquiries as to her health, the occasional joke. She finds herself re-reading them by the light of her bedside lamp, when the house is as silent as it gets. She designates a shoebox to the letters, doesn't bother with anything more secure because Sherlock would never so much as think of going through her possessions.
(Yes, Moriarty writes, he can be tediously predictable at times.)
What Joan should do is burn the letters and find some friends who don't dabble in detective work.
What Joan does do is reach for paper and a pen.

Summary
“I wasn't sure if you guys would actually show up,” said Marcus. He seemed out of sorts, slightly puzzled.
“Your text specified that you weren't joking,” said Sherlock. “You are above all an honest man and not given to flights of fancy. If you say that there's a unicorn in Central Park then there is clearly something here that merits investigation.”
“And he was bored anyway,” added Joan.
“That too.” He looked over to where the possible unicorn was grazing, shielding his eyes from the sun with his hand.

Summary
Sherlock saw wings, even if they weren't the ones she really has. She wants to know why.
It's like a censor in the brain. People don't have wings, so the evidence of the eyes can safely be ignored. She didn't specialise in it, but she knows enough about the human mind to have a few theories. Strong magnetic fields could override the censor, she is fairly sure. Certain mental illnesses might let the sufferer see a flicker of white. And, of course, there are drugs.

Summary
“Watson,” he says, “I thought you could read.” He's holding the half-empty jar with his fingertips, holding it like it's going to explode and take him with it.
“I'm sorry,” she says, and her voice is surprisingly hoarse. She slurs the sibilant and coughs to clear her throat.
He crouches down and lifts her arm with his spare hand, pressing his fingers against her wrist. He puts the honey down on the side-table, then with a sticky touch he feels her forehead.
“You're dying,” he says, matter-of-factly. “Not euphemistically, although I expect you already tried that.”

Summary
“I’m stuck,” she says, waving a hand to indicate the fiendish, unsolvable puzzle before her. “There’s one too many,” she explains, “usually it’s fine but I’ve been feeling a little down recently and…” She lets the sentence end there – the point is made, the situation explained.
“The human mind plays tricks,” says Sherlock, moving towards her, “some of which are truly fascinating to contemplate, but some of which,” he reaches her side at the kitchen counter and stares down at the array of maddening spices, “are unspeakably cruel.”

Summary
Merlin has had a similar effect in terms of how work for that canon has taken over the broader umbrella of Arthurian Myths and Legends. So I imagine Sherlock has taken over the general Sherlock Holmes tags.

Summary
Part of the appeal of fanfic is that it is, usually, a non-explicit discussion of the story through fiction, a way to be both "enlightened about motive and meaning" and to realize one's own perspective through either agreement or disagreement with another text.

Summary
Inspired by a post of sithdragn's that contains this quote from Benedict Cumberbatch about secret-sharing: “You could stick a knife in my thigh, and I wouldn’t tell you,” he said. But he added: “Pull the hair on my head the wrong way, and I would be on my knees begging for mercy. I have very sensitive follicles.”
The first line is also sithdragn's. She is a very Bad Influence.

Summary
Sometimes Sherlock forgets that he is human, that he needs food and water and rest.
John is there — always, always there — to remind him.
[OR: John picks Sherlock back up during a nonverbal episode, and gets a bit more than he bargained for.]

Summary
Sherlock likes jam but not marmalade. He had an intense fascination with Ancient Egypt as a child. He learned the harp before settling on violin. He’s allergic to radish. He’s a dab hand at pottery. He only drinks blackcurrant Lemsip, and he likes to dance, and he thinks he knows everything about everyone.
John proves him wrong.
[OR: the inherent tenderness of Knowing somebody]

Putting a pair of sexy panties in with clothes to give to your partner is totally an experiment, at least as far as Sherlock is concerned. No sublimation involved, honest.
