“Whateva happened to us, ‘Tony? ..To you?”
Angel stared straight at his brother, expression far more serious than what he had ever been used to seeing out of him. “I grew up, that’s what happened.”
    🖤🤍
Arackniss finds himself at the receiving end of angel bullets, in pain and near death until a distant memory from his past decides to take mercy on him. He comes to find that the situation he's found his crime family in is much deeper than it seems, and he'll need help from a certain someone if he ever hopes to catch the fuckers who did this to him and his father's empire- and unfortunately, he'll be dealing with more than just some rat when they're back in the picture.
    🖤🤍
Story features Arackniss pining for Angel Dust.
Derived off of a previous work; "Please Come."
Will add more tags as the story progresses. Fanfic with artwork.

The problem with reading reviews, whether they are book, movie, music, or television is you have to figure out if you and the reviewer share the same tastes, attitudes, or interests. If you don't, chances are you will not agree with the reviewer. A good reviewer gives you enough information about the movie, book, what-have-you without giving away the story and enough to let you know whether or not you will agree with the reviewer's opinion on the work. Many professional reviewers, I've discovered, make the mistake of coming across too arrogant and appear to think their opinion matters far more than it does, much like the critic, M. Night Shyalaman successfully skewers in Lady in the Water. This review is no more or less than my perception of V for Vendetta and in some respects is more of an analysis than a critique. Take from it what you will.]

    Summary

This is by means of introduction to three interesting female television genre writers, who are in some respects far more versatile then some of their male counterparts. Say what you will about Marti Noxon, Jane Espenson and Rebecca Rand Kirshner's work - they have with courage and dignity carved a place for themselves within the television landscape, taking on writing jobs on series that their male counterparts on Buffy never would and coming up with a far more versatile resume as a result.

I've always found fandom's worship of male show-runners a bit annoying. It's understandable in the UK, because as Dominic West of The Wire and The Hour stated - in the UK, you usually just have one writer. Sometimes three, if you are lucky. But it is in reality just one show-runner's vision. It was one of his problems with UK series, there's less collaboration. So it's more stunted. The Wire felt freeing to him because you had a collaboration - it wasn't just David Simon's vision, but about ten people and the cast had input. This is less the case in the UK.

While the sky just dumped the equivalent of two huge buckets of rain on the city, I was reading a rather fascinating interview with William Gibson in The Summer issue of the Paris Review".

William Gibson is the writer of such books as Neuromancer, Pattern Recognition, Spook Country, Mona Lisa Overdrive and Count Zero. And coined the term "cyberspace" along with the genre that it encompasses.

Selected tid bits from the interview that interested me, [my comments are in parentheses in case it's not obvious] follow.

    Summary

The film Dreamgirls, which is the newest Bill Condon musical based on an old Broadway show, is an interesting if flawed film.
The film and the musical that proceeded it are loosely based on the history of the The Supremes - or Diana Ross's all female singing group before she took off and became a solo gig. The film borrows heavily from well-known factoids about Ross's life, such as her relationship with the Jackson Five, here the Campton or Campil Five. And notably, the fact that Ross took over the lead role of The Supremes from Flo Ballard and later or possibly during this period had an affair with Berry Gordon, head of Motown records at the time. Flo Ballard's tale is one of Motown's tragedies and the inspiration for the musical. The musical is not "Diana Ross's" story but rather "Flo's", a realistic Cinderella tale about racism and the power of looks over talent in the music business - which to some degree, and this is a flaw in both the source material and the film, over-simplified to make a point. Reality is never as clear cut as fiction, good guys and bad guys tend to blend together and are less definable.

The Prestige has gotten 77 positive reviews and 28 negative ones. Proving something I keep getting reminded of, that like it or not as the internet slogan goes our mileage may vary (or YMMV - your mileage may will vary). Human beings think differently for biological, environmental, educational, relationship-nurture, and other reasons I can't come up with at the moment. For me, the movie in a way was about that - how and why people think differently and how that different thought process can cause conflict. I'm well aware that not everyone who sees the film will see that aspect of it.
